- ABOUT MAGSEIS
Dr. Idar Horstad joined Magseis as CEO in August 2016. He has more than 25 years experience in the oil and gas industry, the last 17 within management. Idar worked in the exploration department in Saga Petroleum before he joined Fugro-Geoteam in 2000, heading the seismic operations in Norway. In 2002 he became the Managing Director for FMCS with global responsibility for the Multi Client activity in Fugro, a position he held until the merger of the Fugro Gesocience Division and CGG in 2013. Idar served as SVP in CGG Multi Client and New Ventures.
He holds a PhD in Geology from the University of Oslo, Norway.
Mikkel Ektvedt joined Magseis in 2011. He has more than 15 years of experience from the finance and offshore industries. Mikkel worked for the corporate finance division of SEB Enskilda in London and Oslo. From 2008 to 2010 he worked for FLEX LNG as VP of corporate development. Prior to joining Magseis, he spent six months as CFO of Bergen Oilfield Services.
He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Simon Fraser University, Canada.
Bjørn Jensen joined Magseis in June 2014. He has 20 years of experience from the Offshore service industry. Prior to entering his current role as COO of Magseis, he has held various managerial positions, lastly as Managing Director of iSurvey AS. From 1995 to 2011 Bjørn worked for PGS, both offshore and onshore. From 2008 he held the position as VP Operations with global operational responsibility for all PGS Marine Seismic operations.
He holds a Master of Science in Engineering Cybernetics, specialising in Navigation and Control of marine vessels from the Norwegian Institute of Technology in Trondheim.
Nils Halvor Heieren joined Magseis in 2013. He has almost 20 years of experience from the oil service industry, the last 15 with seismic. He started his career as a mechanical engineer in Promech Engineering, where he also served as board member. In April 2002, he moved to WesternGeco to work with development of towed streamers and other in-sea systems. He later took on positions as project manager in the Sustaining and Engineering departments, most recently managing the Towing and Handling department. Nils has previously served as VP Engineering in Magseis, being responsible for the continuous development of the MASS node systems, deck handling equipment and novel node deployment systems.
He holds a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the Norwegian Institute of Technology in Trondheim.
Cathrin Bretzeg joined Magseis in July 2017. She has more than 25 years of experience from management and HR positions from various industries and companies in both public and private sector. Among these are Technip and more recently Kongsberg. As SVP Human Resources, she was responsible for the Human resources and people side of both Kongsberg Oil & Gas Technologies and Kongsberg Digital.
Cathrin also served as State Secretary for the Minister of Local Government, with primary areas of responsibility being immigration and integration 2004-2005.
She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Pacific Lutheran University, USA.
Hélène Dessagne joined Magseis in April 2017 as General Counsel. She has more than 6 years’ experience in the seismic industry, with particular focus on international commercial contracts and compliance. She started her career as a corporate lawyer (Paris and Dubai), before moving in-house to Polarcus (Dubai) where she acted first as Legal Counsel, then as Head of Legal.
She holds an MA in English law from the University of Cambridge, a Maîtrise in French Business Law from the Université Paris II Panthéon-Assas, a DEA (LLM) in Comparative Business Law from the Université Paris II Panthéon-Assas, and she qualified as an avocat (barrister) at the Paris Bar in 2007.
Ivar Gimse is one of the Co-Founders of Magseis. He served as CEO up to August 2016. He has more than 25 years seismic industry experience, with particular focus on data processing, multi-client seismic project development, Ocean Bottom Cable operations and technical marketing. Ivar held various senior management positions with Geco-Prakla (1983-1998) and PGS (1998-2006). From 2006 he served as VP Business Development for InSeis before founding Magseis.
He holds a Master of Science in Geophysics from University of Oslo
Jan Gateman is one of the Co-Founders of Magseis. He has 30 years seismic industry experience, with particular focus on the Multi Client seismic business segment, and has held various senior management positions with companies such as Geco-Prakla (83- 87), Nopec (87-93), Compagnie Generale de Geophysique (CGG) (93-98), GeoInnova, Inseis and Wavefield Inseis. He was one of the persons pioneering the Multi Client 3D seismic industry in North West Europe and is also one of the founders of both GeoInnova and InSeis.
He holds a Master of Science degree in Marine Geology
Susan Penty joined Magseis in 2013. She has been working in the seismic industry for more than 25 years, the first 15 years in various operations, technical and training roles in WesternGeco. In 2005 Susan moved to Fugro-Geoteam initially in operations management before moving into QHSE, and then additionally taking on the Fugro Norway group and the Fugro Seismic Services Business line worldwide. Following the sale of Fugro’s Seismic division to CGG Susan took on the role of VP HSE for CGG’s Acquisition division. Since joining Magseis, Susan has developed the QHSE management system leading the company towards a strong QHSE culture.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in Oceanography from the University of Plymouth in UK and a Post Graduate Diploma in Physical Oceanography at the University College of North Wales UK.
Petter Steen-Hansen joined Magseis in 2015. He has more than 10 years of seismic industry experience with particular focus on the business segment within sales & marketing and business development. From 2007-2015, Petter worked internationally based in Singapore with PGS (2007-2009) and Dubai with Polarcus (2009-2015). He held various managerial positions at Polarcus, lastly as Global Sales Manager responsible for contract sales activities worldwide.
He holds a degree from the four year programme in Economics and Business Administration at the Norwegian School of Economics in Oslo.
Carl R Berg joined Magseis in 2012. He has 24 years seismic industry experience, with global experience from large oil companies as Esso/ExxonMobil and Statoil, and also seismic contractors such as PGS, Geco-Prakla, Wavefield, CGGVeritas and TGS. Carl has for many years been an industry champion within 4D Reservoir Monitoring and as Head of CGGV’s Global Reservoir Monitoring and Business Coordinator for the Ekofisk LoFS project, Carl was responsible for taking delivery of the first and largest PRM project with fiber-optic to date.
He holds a Master of Science in Geo-Acoustics, Signal processing and Geophysics from the Norwegian Institute of Technology Trondheim.
